UBA Foundation, the CRS arm of the United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, invites applications from Senior Secondary school students in Nigeria for:
Speaking at the media launch to announce the entries at the Bank’s head office in Lagos the Chief Executive Officer, UBA Foundation, Mrs. Bola Atta, said that the essay competition provides an opportunity for students in secondary schools across the country to put in their entries and to win prizes in the form of educational grants to study in any universities based in Africa. This prize, according to her, will encourage them to strive towards their goals in life.
She told the students and participants at the event, “We are aware that if you sponsor a child’s education, you have supported an entire family as that child will positively impact his/her community.
Summary
The competition which is a follow up on the Foundation's Read Africa Initiative, provides a competitive platform to develop the intellectual and writing abilities of senior secondary school students in Nigeria. Winners get educational grants to study in any African University of their choice. The competition has been held annually since 2011 with students challenged to write on different engaging topics to test their writing and cognitive skills.

- Applicants must be senior secondary school students schooling in Nigeria.
